This Sunday, July 17, we’re going to Q-Zar!

Meet us up at St. Andrew’s a few minutes before 5:00p to ride with the group. We’ll return to the church around 8:30p.

Bring money for laser tag, video games (if you want), and dinner at Quizno’s on the way back to St. Andrew’s. You’ll also need to download and print out a permission slip.

Prices:

$8 per game of laser tag (we probably won’t have time for more than two games)

$1 for four video game tokens

$18 for a fun pack; includes two laser tag games and 20 tokens

Cotton Patch Gospel Musical, Live at St. Andrew’s

During our last two youth meetings, we’ve been discussing the history of Koinonia Farm, Clarence Jordan’s impact on the civil rights movement, the Cotton Patch Gospel version of the Bible, and how inspirational all of these events have been to me and my faith. I had the opportunity to spend time at Koinonia Farm while in divinity school for my final project. Here’s a quick video about Clarence Jordan:

The Cotton Patch Gospel musical, by Tom Key and Russel Treyz is based on Clarence Jordan’s The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John, which retells the life of Jesus as if in modern day, rural Georgia.

Sunday, June 5 at 6:30pm

All y’all come on down to the Celebration Center on June 5th at 6:30 p.m. for a fabulous presentation of the Greatest Story ever re-told, Cotton Patch Gospel, presented by Contra Costa Christian Theatre, hosted by Cornerstone. Our very own Andy Nichols is in the show, singin’ and strummin’ and dancin’! It’ll be a mighty fine time to be had by all. The show is FREE, but we’re happy to accept any freewill donations all ya’ll make. Monies raised this way will go towards future dramas with Cornerstone and St. Andrew’s mission fund. Somthin’s doin’ in Gainesville, come on down and see!

Youth Lock-In!

They were tired at church the next morning, they mostly stayed awake through service. Alana was smiling even though she just got a nasty rug burn on her shoulder. That was a lot of fun, and I look forward to having one again. Don’t worry parents, not too soon.

Thanks to our parents for letting us try this — and specifically to Jennifer Libby for chaperoning, and Bill Frohlich for bringing bagels in the morning!

Fiesta Dinner

Thanks to everyone’s wonderful help, the Fiesta Dinner, raising money for the Menaul School Mission Trip this summer was a great success.

Intergenerational Mission Trip to Menaul School in Albuquerque: Deposit Due by February 27

In an ecumenical and multicultural environment, Menaul School prepares students for success in college, and teaches them to engage the world as lifelong learners and ethical leaders in service to the community, respecting the Christian tradition.

Cost:

The cost will be about $150 for food. Transportation and meals en route are extra. There is a choice of driving or flying. For those who wish to drive, the trip is about 20 hours and the cost would be $75 per person for gas and overnight accommodations. For those who wish to fly, Southwest provided fights for approximately $300 round trip. You may also consider looking into frequent-flyer mile options. A $75 dollar deposit is due by Sunday, February 27. Make checks payable to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and delivered to Rev. Wendy Komori Stager.

Trip details:

We will be staying in dormitory accommodations that are one bedroom/one bathroom with towels and bedding provided.

Since Albuquerque is at 5,000 feet, the weather in June is usually in the low to mid 80 degrees.

There is a wide variety of jobs possible, from landscaping to painting to repairing bleachers and more.

Youth are encouraged to join us. Middle school participants should invite a parent. We can also make arrangements for each middle school youth to have an adult supervisor if a parent cannot participate.

Please give your $75 deposit to either Chad or Pastor Wendy by February 27 with this printable form, or you can ask for a copy in person.
